Description

Our academic institution is looking for part-time Tutors to help students review class materials, prepare for exams, and complete academic assessments. As a Tutor you will be responsible for guiding learners in understanding new ideas and finishing homework. You will be expected to study lesson plans, carefully read textbooks to grasp the subject matter that you will be teaching, and provide additional projects as necessary during a session as you prepare lessons.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent preferred
  • Higher Education Qualification (not compulsory but advantageous)
  • Proven work experience as a Tutor or similar role
  • Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable and cooperative with a sense of humour
  • Ability to take supervision and correction constructively
  • Ability to positively supervise students
  • Excellent communication and written skills.
  • A driver's license with access to a vehicle. (not compulsory but advantageous)
  • Be punctual and professional.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to student learning, growth and advancement
  • Review classroom or curriculum topics and assignments
  • Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, past exam papers, research and other academic tasks
  • Work with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom
  • Demonstrate academic competence in the subject area(s)
  • Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning and teaching practice
  • Facilitate problem-solving with a curious mind and critical thinking skills
  • Collaborate effectively with parents and the organization to increase student performance
